Although a very large minority of the UK population claim they are climate sceptics, I had never really understood why the rest of the population that do believe in anthropogenic climate change didn’t seem to be doing much about it. I’d read about the Archway Low Carbon Zone, one of ten in London. The stated objective was to reduce carbon emissions by an 20.12% by 2012 and directly engage with local residents. Wow. So rather than stand on the sidelines and offer criticism of the scheme as a campaigner, I signed up to work on the first phase of this project, a few hours of paid door knocking which four of us did last month, and here is a summary of who I encountered and their very different motivations.
