flight carbon calculations - the simple approachwritten on 13/2/2007 13:16
Hi Amy The CRAG spreadsheet (linked from the “how” page) which includes the air miles CO2 conversion factor was based on the one that used to be downloadable from COIN’s website and is very similar to the carbon calculator table in the first link on the links page http://coinet.org.uk/solutions/carbon_rationing This air miles conversion factor includes the 2.7 multiplier recommended by the IPCC. There is still a lot of debate on this topic. Including the multiplier ensures a precautioning approach. Andy » login to post comments

Flight Carbon Calculations
Amy Lunt
Hi Andy
Thanks for the link to webflyer and chooseclimate. I can’t seem to use choose climate and so have been trying all the other flight calculators that i can find online. The worrying thing is that they are all coming up with considerably lower amounts of CO2 than the CRAG calculator . This is going to be an issue for new people thinking of joining a CRAG. Are CRAGs conversion sums based on Myer Hillman’s? If you could conact me directly with sources for all the CRAG calculations that would be great -as Hereford CRAG are holding an open evening soon and it would be good to be clear about this.
