Hi, I’m new to this site and this whole area of living green really fascinates me. The idea of carbon rationing/reducing is a new concept to me. North Americans are much further behind Europeans in this area although recycling, reducing, and re-using is catching on. If there are any other individuals living in Nova Scotia who would like to form a group, I would be interested in touching base.
good luck, halifax

Welcome, Judy. Good luck with forming your group. The website has received a good dozen emails from your side of the Atlantic in the last couple of days – all saying the same thing – is there a group near me? The answer at the moment is: not that we know of.
If you can’t find anyone locally you might think of getting together with other North Americans to start a continental CRAG. I know it kind of goes against the local, face-to-face thing CRAGs, I guess, are trying to encourage but there is a precedent:
Last year I was part of the Leamington CRAG. It included people from all over the West Midlands region of England. We finished our first carbon year at the end of March and when we met to “settle up”, some of us were meeting each other for the first time having only previously been in contact by email. That CRAG has now become three more locally based CRAGs which – who knows – may divide again next year as more folk get interested.
I moved up to Glasgow at the end of last year and was keen to start a CRAG up here. Our website guru David created a Glasgow page for me, I posted a meeting date and put out an email to the local green e-news letter and my local Friends of the Earth. Now we are up and running and about to have our third meeting where we will see how we have got on in our first quarter.
Other CRAGs have started more formally with public meetings organised at local council offices. Each CRAG has its own particular genesis.
Good luck with Halifax!
