Transition Network conference at Cirencester April 11-13

Thread started on 8/4/2008 21:13

Claire Connolly

Hello!

I’m wondering if anyone will be attending the Transition Network conference this weekend – from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 April. I’m not a CRAGger myself (yet!) but I’m sure there must be quite a bit of cross-over between CRAGs and Transition Towns, since we share some of the same ideas and goals.

I’ll be attending the conference for the three days and I was hoping I might be able to meet some CRAGgers for an hour on the Friday or Saturday evening – since we’re not likely to have many other plans!

I am personally very interested in the concept of CRAGs, but my motives for meeting up are a little more complex: as a masters student at the University of Liverpool, I need to conduct a piece of research relating to my chief interest (social movements and climate change). If anyone will be there and can spare an hour, I think it would be interesting to have an informal group discussion about CRAGs – especially if we had some voices from different regions. I imagine it would be a good opportunity for you too to exchange ideas and discuss approaches that have (or haven’t) worked for you before (although I realise that this website allows considerable connection between different groups already).

If anyone is interested, please get in touch – I think replies automatically go to my inbox, but just in case, my email is mscconnolly@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Claire

CRAGs and TT working together

Claire, I’m glad you’ve posted about this, as I think there’s a real opportunity for CRAGs and TT to work together. Truro CRAG has just started from a pre-existing TT, and in Sevenoaks several of the CRAG members are now starting a TT – there may be other examples too. I think the two approaches are complementary, and it would be good to discuss how they can work together – here and in person.

I can’t make the conference, unfortunately, but hope someone else can!

We did recently have a meet nr Leeds, but we decided to do something more practical rather than the traditional conference: some of us old and new members hammered out some shared values that will be posted up here soon!
