First of all, apologies for the downtime this evening, which I’m certain deprived many of you of regular CRAGs fix! Especially to Jessica, who was quite unceremoniously booted off soon after she logged in.

We have some much needed website updates. I have disabled some features (“latest” and the sitewide topics browser), whilst I update them, so as to get the core stuff up. Here’s a quick summary of what’s changed:

• Groups. A redesign to make the layout more logical and summarise group activity on the front page. As well as the welcome message (which now spills over to an “about” page), and membership info, we can eventually add a carbon summary panel. Not much progress on the emailthreads functionality I’m afraid, and I’m not sure when the software will be finalised. A “daily digest” email notification is still on the TODO list, too – but in the meantime you could try the RSS feeds (top-right on list pages) as an alternative. The tags browser only shows the tags present in your group, with the top panel showing “core” tags, and the bottom contributed ones. You can navigate between groups more easily too, although I’m aware we still need a quicker link from forum => [insert your local group here].

• Forum. Again the tag browsers should make things easier to find. You can also now post files, images and links too in the forum. The arrows at top-right (when viewing a thread etc.) allow you to browse through the threads, whilst the RSS button provides a feed of whatever list you are looking at (e.g. forum > files > EU ETS, or forum > images etc.)

• Wiki. An area for collating information and collaborative writing. Anyone can edit pages and interlink them easily. Pages are also organised under the tagging system, but in a slightly different way. A little more information is available in the guide. Feel free to get stuck in!

It shouldn’t be long before we can also hook up John’s mycarbon and display group members’ footprints, and there are some calendars with a little more work to be done too. In the longer term, we are looking to handle group footprints (entered manually, or calculated from members’ footprints). Please add ideas and priorities for the future to Feedback.

Lastly, there are bound to be bugs lurking – if you can note them at bugs that would be really helpful.
