Christian, Kat, Liz, Cathy, Irene, Martin, Iain and Andy got together at Andy’s to review our progress so far this year. Apologies from Jake, Brendan, Daryl and Russell.
We welcomed Liz and Cathy, who bravely agreed to join us.
Andy told us that gCRAG was well on course to meet its collective CO2 target for 2007. Our low carbs seem to relate more to our conservational attitude to travel and home energy rather than any mega investment in home improvements or micro-renewables!
In the light of these low emissions figures and in anticipation that we would almost all be carbon savers relative to our gCRAG 2007 target of 4500kg, we talked about the possibility of adopting a more globally equitable and more challenging target of 2000kg (i.e. the approximate global average personal carbon footprint for the things we count). We agree to stick with 4500kg for this year and discuss the idea again as a proposal for gCRAGs 2008 target.
We had a look at the www.carbondiet.org website which allows user friendly logging of meter readings and car mileage data and also a group facility to allow us to share our data with each other. We agreed to trial this as a CRAG and keep going with our current system as for now carbondiet does not include public transport and air travel.
Christian fielded questions about the progress or lack of it at the latest UN climate talks in Vienna. (Fancy writing a few lines on this here, Christian?)
We continued our conversation at the pub.
I have probably forgotten a lot of things. Please add.
Thanks must go to Iceland on Byers Road for some excellent fregan jam tarts!
