Thanks to everyone who made it yesterday evening. Here’s some meeting notes. Special thanks to Irene for taking them down.

Thursday 7th June 2007. 7.30pm at A’s.

1. Introductions

Attendees: Will, Daryl, Iain, Irene, Andy and Brendan
Apologies: Kat and Jake
Notes also circulated to Russell

2. “Quick” Review of notes from 28/02/07

Special treatment for homeworkers reconsidered. Why no special treatment for pensioners and unpaid homemakers, carers, etc? Better just to count with no special treatment and see what happens.

Daryl suggested we should invite our street – Bank Street – to start counting. D and A to raise at next street association meeting.

Electric, gas, cars, trains, buses to be counted as previously agreed. Hitching considered carbon “free”! Will asked if anyone knew if propeller planes more fuel efficient than jet travel. Will to look into and post on website any findings. Andy said 2007 climate camp will be at Heathrow. Some enthusiastic brainstorming of positive humorous creative action followed! Brendan asked what the most efficient way of getting to Ireland from Glasgow was. Surprisingly doesn’t seem much to choose from between plane and ferry. Ferry not yet included on CRAGs carbon calculator. We could go with figures in Mark Lynas’ Carbon Counter bookie.

3. Our 2007 CO2 so far.

Daryl, Jake, Tony and Kat still to supply remainder of Jan to April data. Andy produced fancy pie charts for Will, Brendan and himself showing their CO2 per month and cumulative CO2 each month. Andy to do for rest of group when all data comes in. Will noticed impact of getting car back on the road and accounted for most of difference between him and the other two. Brendan noticed impact of visitors! But still a fantastic 740kgCO2 for 5 months to end of May. Andy noticed that his monthly total dropped drastically as spring turned into summer. Very encouraged to see 250kgCO2 for January reduce to 37kgCO2(!) for May. Must check if spreadsheet is calculating this properly! Andy to do Irene and John’s piecharts starting from April. Iain to send Andy (sorry resend) missing eletric data.

4. Climate Change Bill consultation

Responses need to be in by 12th June. Andy to send link to thread.

5. Who are we?

Need to tell the world who we crazies are. Andy to send link to thread.

6. Mike the film-maker

Didn’t show. Probably just as well for him!

7. Kat’s star performance on BBC News 24

Irene and Brendan saw it and said she was great. Brendan to get a hold of footage and link it from gCRAG page.

8. CRAGs Network news

BBC online news story cause spike in mail to site and has led to quite a few new groups starting. Will offered to help out with website admin. Andy to send password and log-in details.

9. C&C and C&S
Brendan gave us info on Cap and Share. Hopefully will be able to discuss next time.

10. Next time

One day in September.
