Should we respond to the Defra consultation on the draft Climate Change Bill as a group?

Hi

Initially I thought people might want to do this individually, but then, why shouldn’t we do it as a group if most of the members agree? Do people agree?? Please just post yes or no – we can look into it in the next meeting as well, but why not get a feel for what the group thinks now? Then i can spend lots of time reading the draft Bill rather than working before the next meeting – hurray!

The Bill and consultation documents are on

“The closing date for submission of responses is 12 June 2007”..

I think we should do both – ie write as a group, and write as individuals, not mentioning CRAG. This is more effective, as each letter will then be logged as a separate response, and we want to aim at alarge volume of responses, eg pressing for annual targets of 3% reduction. If I didn’t excplain this at the meeting, it was because of shortage of time.

Agree with Mary. The more responses the better. What we could do is develop some briefing notes on line that people can use to help them furnish their own reponses.
