This is a copy of the e mail that I sent to you all on 1st April entitled ‘end of year data’. No need to read if you got that e mail.
Dear Bristol craggers,
A year has passed since we set up, so its time to send in your last quarter carbon footprints for the period 1st Jan to 1st April. If you could send these as soon as possible that would be great, then I should be able to collate results before new screamer arrives (due 5th April); send them to alexcochrane@doctors.org.uk
I hope you will all be able to make the next meeting on 22 april 7.30 at Hamish’s house 9 exeter buildings. This will be an important meeting where we will decide next years targets, penalties etc. Angela is going to give some feedback from the national group aswell so we can see how we fit into the bigger movement, and to celebrate the anniversary of our Crag we will have drinks and snacks.
Here is a provisional agenda for the meeting :
1) Presentation of 2007 – 2008 totals and monies / hours owed
> 2) Discussion of 2007 – 2008 totals and any disagreement regarding
> calculations.
> 3) What to do with the money, how best to take this forward
> 4) What we have all learned from the process, what we have changed –
> an opportunity for everyone to say what they think of the process of
> being part of the CRAG and what they have changed during the year.
> 5) Next years CO2 target
> 6) Next year’s penalties
> 7) Next years CO2 footprint calculator
> 8) Any other business
Happy calculating,
Alex.

We had our end of first year meeting, and thirteen of us have complete figures for the year, and we are all under the target of 4.5 tonnes, and the group average is below too (as you would expect). We’ve learned a lot, we are going to carry on as a group, and we decided that because we want to welcome new carbon counters as well as making further reductions for the existing counters, that we will now switch to personal targets for each member. We talked a lot about things we dont count as well – water, food, and stuff. Its too tricky to measure, but we want to be mindful of these aspects of our footprints too. And another big learning point – and a reason for personal targets – is that if you are at work you get access to heated lighted premises up to five days a week, whereas if you are retired you dont. So until all aspects are carbon counted then setting personal allowances in the group is a way of taking account of these inequities.
