Our agreed allowance system gives individuals their own allowance that is based on their footprint when they join the group. Higher footprints reduce faster (by stipulating higher annual reduction rates for higher footprint bands), so everyone converges over time. We felt this system would be fairer, more effective at recruiting high emitters, and allows for the increasing difficulty of reducing footprints as they shrink.
The bands for annual reduction rates are:
- 20-15t: 25% annual reduction
- 15-10t: 20%
- 10-7t: 15%
- 7-5t: 10%
- 5t and below: 5%
