NOTICE OF MEETING 3rd APRIL 2008 AT BLUE MOON CAFE, SHEFFIELD

Those interested in participating should record the following late on 31st March (or as near as feasible):

1. Electricity & Gas meter readings
2. Mileage on any vehicle they own
3. If using coal, number of full sacks & an estimate of any loose.

And for the period starting 1st April retain :
1. Bills and statements from electricity & gas companies.
2. Fuel receipts for any vehicle they own showing volume & type of fuel.
3. If using coal, receipts for deliveries showing quantity and type.
4. Air tickets
5. Surface tickets if journey is more than 50 miles from your home.

NOTE : Travel on behalf of your employer or business is excluded. However, regular travel by surface public transport to/from your normal place of work (commuting) will be counted (it can soon add up). Reasonable estimates for this are acceptable (you don’t have to save every bus ticket!)

Also, if you use part of your private home for job or business, a proportion of your domestic energy consumption will not be counted. The calculation method has yet to be agreed but may well align with that used for tax.

Proposed Agenda. Meeting will finish no later than 7.55pm.

1. Amendment / acceptance of these minutes
2. People to report their estimated carbon footprints – choice of annual target for first year of the CRAG.
3. Green electricity – whether to rate 100% renewable tariffs as zero CO2 per KWh.
4. Agree on other conversion factors.
5. Roles to be filled e.g. co-ordinator and “carbon accountant”. (A carbon accountant calculates the CO2 emissions from the raw consumption data and conversion factors e.g. 20100 KWh of gas x 0.206 kg CO2 per KWh = …)
6. How CO2 emissions will be recorded – will each member calculate their own emissions or will they provide details for the carbon accountant or will the whole group meet up to do the sums together?
7. Agree on the settlement process. (This process of paying any donations due.)
8. Choice of local good cause or charity.
9. Agree on when and how often we are going to settle. (Most groups settle every 12 months but 6 months isn’t so long to wait)
10. Agree on whether you are going to allow unused credits to be carried forward from one period to another.
11. Constitution. (It will be necessary to have one before we can seek grants.)
12. Election of management committee. (Again it will be necessary to have one before we could seek funding.)
13. Bank or building society account – choice, signatories – again needed before funding can be sought.
