Hi,
I have uploaded the TH CRAG aims, with some suggested edits. I am not attached to them, and think we will create something that works for us, and those that we might try to recruit.
Below I have pasted something that may get us thinking about how we talk about what we are doing to different audiences. Generally, when I am communicating about sustainability, I usually only focus on the ‘green’ motivation when speaking to other people who have the same values! For others, I try to be sensitive to what their priority values are. People’s ‘eco-selves’ express themselves in different ways!
Example – a bit over the top, but I think it communicate the point
‘Six good reasons to conserve energy’
- Eco-Guardian: As a ritual to satisfy the forces of nature; To respect nature and her balance. Failure to do so is to create disorder and upset the balance of things.
- Eco-Warrior: As an act of heroism, fighting for the earth’s salvation. Failure to do so is to give in to the industrial juggernaut.
- Eco-Manager: As an act of duty to (God, state, children). To ensure society’s continuation. Failure to do so should bring guilt (and a penalty) for threatening order.
- Eco-Strategist: Because it makes good long-term sense (conserve now, use later) and is profitable (efficiency directly improves bottom line). Failure to do so is to miss an opportunity to profit.
- Eco-Radical: Because it is good for the whole community and planet. Saving energy helps address social and economic imbalance. Failure to do so amounts to ecocide.
