Next Weeks Meeting

Thread started on 1/5/2008 17:02

Dear All,

As I am taking my turn as chair for next weeks meeting I would like some ideas for the Agenda.

I did send round an e-mail about a possible funding pot that we might be able to tap into which I will lead on.

Some other issues would be good.

In the abscence of a response I will create an Agenda so not to worry.

Have a good weekend.

Oli

Re: CRAG meeting last night - brief summary of actions

Hi y’all,

[I have posted this reply on the CRAG site, just to see how the email notifications are working too…]

  • Re: next meeting – if the 18th works for everyone else, that I can do that. Generally Wed / Thurs are no good for me as I have Chinese and Tai Chi on respective days, so prefer Mon / Tues.
  • Re: a stall. If the purpose is to raise awareness, then a large store may be a good thing. It may seem a little weird that Tesco / Sainsbury’s are well-documented to be a major force behind unsustaianble trends (economically, ecologically, socially), yet our presence may be in some ways endorsing what we are actually advocating against?

If we want to recruit members, then actually visiting organisations / networks that are already green may be a good way to go e.g. all the organic cafes, supermarkets, community gardens. I guess one of the risks there.

I wonder what our ideal profile of recruit is? It may be good to target people who are already community leaders in some other regard, and so their adoption of this behaviour would suddenly become newsworthy and influential within their communities e.g. local councillors, popular local bars. (!). Does anyone know anyone like this or have ideas of who these pillars of the community are?

Here is a link to the London green map – I might be happy to ride around the streets, visiting the sites I mentioned above, and ones on this map (in TH) to hand out the lightbulbs? http://greenmap.london21.org/

  • Re: Dates for stall. I could do the evening of the 10th. And could be there for a couple of hours on the 14th.

Best,

Andrew

Funding

Arising

Two thoughts on easy money for the group

1) Micro Grant (below)

2) UnLtd – we could apply as an informal group http://www.unltd.org.uk/index.php

Micro grants of £50 – £250 are available to small community groups and individuals wishing to develop a community based project or activity. Full details and application form are attached. Please circulate and apologies for any cross postings. Deadline for receipt of applications is Monday 16 June

The Grant Fund is funded through the weekly Community Lottery, which is operated by Community Money CIC, a non-profit micro finance company.
