Hi guys,
it seems there is a long thread of conversation on the CRAG site about food, but not that much in terms of how other CRAGS have dealt with it: http://www.carbonrationing.org.uk/fora/threads/some-data-on-food-footpri…
I don’t remember exact details, but look forward to talking again with Oliver re: how we can use the eco-footprint calculations and our relative changes in that as a proxy for actually doing the carbon footprint calculations for food? I think that was what he was saying at last meeting…
Here is a post from one of the threads on food:
Less easily countable indirect CO2 emissions created by households account for roughly 6t or 6000kg of CO2, of which more that half is due to food, drink and tobacco consumption – see Chart 7.6 on p56 of this 2004 report from the Office of National Statistics.

I have uploaded the file in our area – a pdf
Cheers
Andrew

www.foodcarbon.co.uk is the best site we’ve found so far for calculating food emissions. see if anyone can beat my half a tonne carbon annual emissions from cheese alone! i blame the supermarkets for all those special offers on bumper packs…
