detailsnameReevesie backgroundI'm 29 and I spend a lot of my time doing a PhD looking at CO2 emissions from housing. |
CRAGsLeicester (admin) “”I think that quantifying your carbon impact and relating that to the cuts you need to make is a really powerful thing to do - really makes you understand what "doing your bit" really means, and whether you're actually doing it or not! |
carbonprofileMy total for 06/07 was just less than 1 tonne - 628kg for home, 341kg for travel (plus another 397kg for work travel). The home stuff breaks down as 467kg, 160kg electricity - that's the household total divided by the two of us. The transport stuff is almost all train journeys, no flights and very few car journeys. I've attached all the details in the Leicester documents part of the website for anyone nerdy enough to want to see an in-depth breakdown. As to why it's like that - we heat our house as little as we can get away with, and have very few appliances (no TV, fridge, freezer, washing machine..). Public transport is high 'cause of lots of trips around the UK, but nearly all travel within Leicester and commuting is by bike, so nothing to count there. Lifestyle wise, I try to consume to the minimum and eat vegan and as local and seasonal as i can. expertiseI've done workshops on footprint-calculation and what we should aim for, so i'd be happy to help out with anything similar |
