detailsnameTim Lunel backgroundHi, I have worked in the general environmental area since 1990, initially on researching and dealing with major oil spills. When I joined The National Energy Foundation in 2005 and calculated my carbon footprint I found it very sobering to see that my carbon footprint in that year was 11 tonnes for the part that I had direct control over (largely because I had visited my sister in Australia in that year). Twice the UK average. This has spurred me over the last two and a half years to reduce my footprint down to 2 tonnes in 2007. To achieve this I have ensured my home is fully insulated (for example topping up the insultation in my loft to 250mm), I have changed my boiler to a condensing boiler, fitted energy efficient bulbs throughout, put SAVA energy saving plugs on my fridge and freezer, I have put flat plate solar panels to heat half our hot water, I have changed my car to a VW Polo with a warranty to run on 100% biodiesel, and last but by no means least reduced my flying down to one flight to Pisa in 2007. In 2008 I will not be flying at all! I am lucky that I have access to all the information at work to help make these decisions. If you would like any information then please either visit the NEF web site below or drop me an e.mail ! I am looking forward to embarking on this journey together with you ! Tim website |
