The Wokingham Carbon Rationing Action Group commences its first Carbon
Year on the 1st January 2007.
Carbon emissions are hot in the press lately due to the likely
consequences Carbon Dioxide, a greenhouse gas, will have on our
environment through its global warming effect. Many of us are now
looking for a way to actively do something about it and CRAGs are here
for this purpose.
The wCRAG members already have a benchmark of their 2006 carbon
footprints. They will set a new target ration for 2007 and try to keep
their emissions below this for the year. By the end of the year each
member will either be in Carbon Credit in which case they will receive
a reward or Carbon Debt in which case they will need to pay a penalty.
Whichever it is we intend to reduce our emissions, learn something new
about how we use energy and create some output for others to use in
what is seen as the biggest challenge the world faces today.
